Susan holds a BA in Studio Fine Art from the University of Maryland and over the years has taken classes and workshops, plus studied with other master artists in Painting and Drawing to keep her skills honed.
She has illustrated books, posters and magazines, has taught classes and workshops, and offers her original work and prints through shows, exhibits and her website. Her artwork hangs in numerous collections across the US and is presently exhibited at The Muse Gallery in Longmont, CO. Two of her drawings have been published in the latest edition of "Best of Worldwide Artists Working in Charcoal, Pastel and Pencil, Vol. I".
Working with colored pencils over the last 25 years, Susan has learned to “paint” with them. It is a medium of great nuance and control that provides luminous color. She also paints in oils, being attracted to a looser application of rich, intense color to create larger pieces that can be hung without glass.
Susan's work is classically rendered, with a slightly mysterious patina. A mystical influence pervades her work, a realistic yet magical treatment of figures, objects, and animals sparked by her love of world mythology and her fascination with women's inner archetypal journeys.
Her memberships include The Colored Pencil Society of America, International Guild of Realism, Portrait Society of America, Longmont Council for the Arts, and Prospect Artists Association.
Susan moved from Annapolis, MD at the end of 2005 and settled in Longmont, CO. She works out of her studio located at 1515 Main St., Unit 202, in Longmont.
